There has been a huge gap in updating this blog created for little Nitu. A lot has happened in the past couple of months… Trouble with domestic help, many many bouts of illness for little Nitu and days and nights of coping up with no help and everything that goes with it.
This time however, I promised myself to steal a few mins to pen down some imp milestones for Nitu. The past months have witnessed her grow from a shy child to one who is more involved in extra curricular activities at school resulting in two prizes a “2nd prize in a sticking competition” (her very first) and the other “Best dressed child” in a dance competition. Also, after a long break from school (due to freezing temperatures in Chandigarh) Nitu had her very first exam this Monday i.e. 11th Feb. This whole month is full of assessment schedules and little Nitu is working hard preparing to answer questions on Animals – domestic / wild, animal - homes, sounds, babies, days of the week, means of transport, about yourself, colours, shapes, opposites, fruits, recognition of numbers and alphabets, months of the year etc.
I personally think it’s a little too much for a child in pre-nursery. But then I guess that’s the standard of education these days.
Another interesting episode is that yesterday Nitu wanted to know what I was packing in her lunch box. Normally she carries biscuits, wafers, cream roll, pop corn etc. As she has her breakfast before leaving for school. She mentioned that all kids carry parathas and she wanted a paratha in her lunch box. I was taken aback and realized that she was really growing up!
With her father around I could not talk her out of wanting a paratha (at 8.15 AM. We leave for school at 8.30) for her snack at school. So I gathered speed and rolled out a paneer paratha which she admired and happily tucked into her bag. After school I was eager to know if she had eaten her paratha which was still around in her lunch box. She tweaked her nose and said I asked for a plain paratha I did not want the paneer !! So it’s back to biscuits and wafers in her lunch box for now.
Hope to be more regular in updating her antics from now on.
