Akshara goes to day care for almost the whole day now. I was very anxious as to how she will manage for the whole day as she was not used to staying away from me for more than 3 hours. Disappoinment number one! She asked for me only once during nap time.
My neighbour's son Aadi also is there for the whole day, only during summer holidays, as his mom works full time too. There are about 20 other kids in the section where Akshara and Aadi are.I was quite happy that she adjusted well and was proud of her, little realising that Akshara was enjoying herself because Aadi was there. She did not miss me! Two days later the teacher tells me that she eats, sits, sleeps and hovers around Aadi all through the day. And Aadi, the angel that he is probably puts up with her.
I also noticed she does not "share" me with anybody. If any child so much as comes half a meter close to me she will say "hey this is my amma". If that child were to be Aadi, no reaction! Aadi is allowed to do anything he wants with "her amma".
Aadi is away at Kerala for the next few days, God help me!

I have not blogged for over a month now, and that is not because Axe (read Akshara) did not come up with anything that is worth writing about, but because I have been busy.
Axe has learnt a lot over the past two weeks, thanks to my new job. She now stays at the days care for 6-7 hours as opposed to the 3 hours she used to spend till the last week of March. Which is probably why she thinks I need to pay more attention to her than what I already do. If you were to speak to those who see me everyday they will tell you that Axe is like an "attachment" to me! Imagine a tractor without a trailer or a crane without the long arm. When she is not with me, which is very rare, you know something is missing in the picture.
Axe has new fancy phrase that she uses, over uses actually, and that is "carry me amma". She wants to be carried ALL the time. Initially I indulged her, but after a few days I realised she was pushing it a little too much. She refused to get off the bed without me carrying her!! Well, the past few days I have been playing what Axe calls "bad girl". I refuse to carry her to the park and back, simply by telling her "you want to go to the park you have to walk". A couple of days ago, she pleaded with me "carry me once amma, you pick me up and put me down" and when I did pick her up, she said "now do walky walky" and foolish me, I did.
After a few yards she tells me "Aadi's mama always carries him, Gunnu's mama always carries him and even Abha's mama always carries her, did you not see?"
I am only glad that she does not weigh too much!
