Ragesh loves Thomas and his friends. The train series always fascinates my kid, as a result we ended up in purchasing some of the merchandise. His attention to details is an amazing thing. If we could have noticed all the train engine consists of a big shaft kind of link on its large wheels. This was missing in those miniature merchandise. So he used is mom's wrist charm and connected it end to end. As the magnet, which connects other carriages, was handy to this. And he comes to me and show that it has the "Chack!... Chack!" (his version of expaling the shaft)

Talking about the way cartoons affecting the children both positive and negative could be a hot topic. We can see most of the elders involve in viewing along with the kids and have couple of their own favorite shows too. In my case I'm having a lot to enlist. Lets finish up the bad influence first and cut it short. There are certain cartoons which have been a negative influence in the kids behaviour as a whole, (excuse me fans...) like Power ranger, Pokemon, dragon ball Z and what else. Cartoons of this genre has always had a thin line of difference between the good guys' attitude and the of the bad guys'. I have heard parents worrying that their elder son troubles his younger sibling, yelling some dialogs rendered in these kind of cartoons. Like "you are a bad power... you need to be destroyed", what is that? where these kids are learning to imply such things to their own brothers and sisters. It can be explained that this might be, psychologically, a way of expressing the lack of attention by the parents after the new extension of the family. This is just one example.
On the other side, there are a number of cartoons which are carefully made to educate the kids with what they might need to endeavour at the particular age. I can say cartoons like Oswald, Thomas and friends, Harry and bucket full of dinosaurs Tiny Planet, Little Einstein, entire programs covered in Play house Disney, noddy, Bob the builder... They really are good cartoons. They teach a lot, repetitive and funny too. For instance, couple of weeks back when I, my wife and my son tried to cross the road (I was carrying him). Ragesh stopped me and pulled my chin to the left side of the road and back to the right side. The amazing part is this, he then said to me with a sparkling eye and a big small, "Appa! Oswald... Oswald". That was what I expecting him to get from the cartoon, the reason is, the cartoon show Oswald, whenever a person crosses the road the look either side of the road before crossing, if you can notice there will be a mild bell sound accompanying the act of looking each side of the road. That's called registering. That sound subconsciously registers the message in the kids mind. I saw it working...
Not only that these cartoons have a good dose of 'respect others' and 'good manners'. The goodwill can be seen all the way long. It teaches how to admittance and acceptance, which is very important for character development. The Mr.Bean, is a kind of amphibious, as it involves lots of pulling legs and and concealment of bad deeds. Sir. Rowan Atkinson is always bean a man of thousand expressions, they help the kids make really funny faces (if it falls within parents' tolerance)
In conclusion, parents have to take care of what they watch and enact the good part shown there in the TV. Make them understand what is good to follow.
Turner communications have always been a good contributor to the children society. Channels like Pogo TV, Disney Channel have a great impact on the kids under 6 years. Good Viewing!

My son Ragesh is a 2 3/4-year old gift in my life. As a new born baby, he was famous for the five congenital teeth he had.
Like every parent, I'm here to talk about my son and his participation in our (me and my wife Evangeline)lives. Every action of his is a challenge and to be an amazed spectator is itself an adventure.
After hearing all the stories and events from our epics, we were clear that children start learning while in their mother's womb. So my wife took all the necessary measures like reading good books, painting, listening to good music, etc. After he was born, we saw that all those inputs had reached him.
When he was 47 days old, we got him a picture book. I tried mimicking the sounds of the animals in it. When it was the turn of the elephant, I trumpeted. When I showed him the picture, he tried to catch the book by waving his hands wildly and chuckling with his eyes shut tight. But as soon as he heard my 'elephant' voice, he stopped waving his hands, turned to me with sparkling, wide eyes and smiled.
That is when we understood the attention grabbing technique - THE SOUND. We realized that we had to teach him in as real as a manner as possible - by being what it is (for those that we can be) or what it does or has. Well, it is the begining of parenting!
To my knowledge, parents are not those who just nurse kids, but they are those who become "the all" for the kid. To teach them is to show them. It works when we show them how it works. That way I have shed a lot of bad manners and tried to be a good person before him (at least). This makes me say that he is grooming me into a new person. This offspring of mine is shaping me (when it comes to mothers, it's a different story). I can hear my conscience say "Welcome To Fatherhood".
Our adventure continues...
